Africa Confidential is a fortnightly newsletter covering politics and economics in Africa. It was established in 1960 and is owned by the British company, Asempa Limited. Founded by a group of six individuals under the banner of Miramoor Publications, Africa Confidential was originally printed on blue airmail paper. Hence its nickname as 'the Blue Sheet'. Available by subscription only, the newsletter is the leading fortnightly bulletin on Africa and is read by governments, business, academia, the military, media and many others.

Africa Confidential focuses on issues that affect the continent, analyses political complexities and reports on areas and topics that receive little coverage in the mainstream press. With its investigations into corruption and political intrigue, the 50-year-old journal punches above its weight and was famously the subject of a record six-year libel case that ended in June 2001. Its Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria and Sudan coverage often makes the news in the mainstream press. Following a long tradition of distinguished editors, Patrick Smith has edited Africa Confidential since 1991. The Blue Sheet is essential reading for anyone with an interest in Africa.

Twelve pages; 25 issues per year; covering Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Congo-Kinshasa, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Gabon, Cameroon and all other African countries.

In 2007, Africa Confidential launched a monthly newsletter called Africa-Asia Confidential, using the resources Africa Confidential built up over 50 years of reporting in Africa, Africa-Asia Confidential is also developing a new network of correspondents to supply the same kind of detailed and exclusive information for which Africa Confidential has won its reputation. Africa-Asia Confidential aims to get behind the headlines, and to analyse the real significance of events, policies and bilateral relations between the two continents.
